Qualification/Experience
Heather Spencer holds a BFA from DePaul University in Chicago and an MSSW in clinical social work from UT Austin. After receiving her clinical license, Heather worked with children, adolescents, families, and adults in inpatient and outpatient settings. She has also worked for TDCJ and as a social worker for Seton Hospital Network.

After working for a few years, Heather took a leave of absence to engage in missionary work in El Salvador where she worked with homeless and mentally ill populations, helping them to improve their standard of living. For the last several years, Heather has homeschooled her children and has been employed as a teacher in the Austin Metro area.

As Heather’s children have become more independent, she is returning to the field of counseling. She approaches counseling from a cognitive behavioral perspective and believes listening and providing a safe space for her clients is her highest objective. Heather brings the perspective of life experience with her and strongly values viewing life as a marathon, rather than a sprint. Life is messy, but change is possible and Heather is honored to partner with individuals and families to work toward change with grace and hope.
