Qualification/Experience

Liz Lawrence, MA, LPC-S treats all clients as whole people and works alongside other professionals to provide a holistic individualized treatment plan. She works as a Christian counselor, coach, and creative consultant. Liz is available for Individual Sessions and Group Sessions. Within Individual sessions, she works with individual adolescent and adult females in areas including anxiety or panic attacks and episodes, body image, career strategy/strategic job searching, cross-cultural or ministry mission’s transitions, disordered eating, dating skills, emotional abuse, emotional expression, and stress management. Clients will be provided with tools, skills, resources, and ways to grow out of sessions to most effectively utilize time in counseling.

As a previous small business owner, she understands the role of women in business and provides counseling and coaching for the career or marketplace woman. Also experienced with over 17 years in ministry and non-profit work, she provides counseling that includes discipleship and leadership growth along with ministry and vision implementation strategy. As a creative (painter, actor, sculptor, writer), she provides multi-media counseling for creatives to bring their work into their counseling.

She provides a systematic counseling structure that has helped strengthen individuals, groups and organizations. Her structure includes a theoretical orientation of Object Relations, Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills, and Intimacy Therapy. She includes resources and tools for spiritual practices, creative uses of media, physical health, intellectual growth, brain-healthy practices and relational strength in all seasons of life.

Group work for females includes the 6 Come Alongside Groups for women.  Come Alongside Groups partners with DBT Daily to help women build a life we love to share with others without compromising our beliefs or boundaries. These groups are designed to both function as a stand-alone service and also be an add-on supplement to individual therapy work, as it is primarily a skill-based coaching group, not a process group.

Couples work includes dating skills, pre-engagement and pre-marital skills, and Mini-Intensives for healing hurts and re-establishing trust and communication skills.

Organizational work includes the Coming Alongside Basic Counseling Training and also Leadership Training. Liz is also CISM trained (Certified Individual and Group Facilitator for the Critical Incident Stress Management Foundation).

Liz believes in training others and has published two resources so far. Getting to AHA Moments: How to Get The Most Out Of Counseling E-book. Come Alongside: Skills and Tools to Confidently Care for Others without Compromising your Beliefs or Boundaries. Liz has also been a contributor on Stilettos On the Glass Ceiling – the ultimate resource for women in business and a Forbes 100 Top Career Website.

Along with her husband, they co-lead an international leadership outreach ministry.  When she’s not working or traveling you can find Liz and her family enjoying Austin or hosting friends at home.
